AB is an old man with a disability who lives alone in an apartment cluttered with mementos, memories, and trash. Talking and interacting with others were a vital part of this renowned director’s life, but now AB lives in solitude and silence, a prisoner of a body which no longer serves him. He spends his days wheelchair bound, sitting in front of a computer – his only window to the outside world.
Like Krapp, in Beckett’s Krapp’s Last Tape, AB turns to self-examination. He listens to recordings he’s made over the course of his life, a kind of audio diary, and searches for what might be the pivotal moment of his lifetime, before recording a final tape.
seem. What is the sacred fire AB wants to pass on?
AB
To bring water to a simmer, you need a cover and boiling hot water. To make water boil, you need fire.
