Trafic Inter/national d'art actuel in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, an event bringing some 40 artists together to explore concepts of circulation, negotiation, power and law.
Les secours arriveront bientôt is a theatre performance set in public areas. Passers-by witness incidents or accidents that have placed superheroes in dire straights: Superman bloody, sprawled on the ground; Spider-Man imprisoned in his own web; Batman in tears, his cape stuck in a sewer grate; Wonder Woman on drugs and strung out, trying to stand up.
A posted emergency number lets people know they can call for help. A voice assistant asks Good Samaritans to describe what they’re seeing with a series of questions that probe the very notion of what a hero is. Do we need to be saved?
VOICE ASSISTANT
Do you think you have the power to reverse the course of events you’re witnessing?
If you do, say “Yes. I have that power”,
but if you don’t think you have that power, say “No. I don’t have that power.”
